27 June 2006, 12:00 The largest breeding island in the fjord is Storholmen. On this island, every year we map all nests. We work in pairs. One of us slowly approaches the nest. We note the distance at which the female leaves the nest (a measure for her motivation to defend the nest). Clutch size is recorded and the rings of the geese are read. While one person is approaching the nest, the other is looking through the telescope from a distance. | |
