| The day after we have seen the polar bear on Storholmen, we are checking the last nests and assessing the damage. About 30 eider nests and one goose nest had been taken by the bear. Below you see the goose nest number 93, with a dead wet gosling still near it. | |

Eggs seem not the easiest food for a polar bear to digest. We discover four patches with a kind of diarhea. The polar bear is used to a very fatty diet. Eggs are full of protein. No wonder he did not take more. He must have had some stomach ache. We have sampled the faeces for anlysis of the diet and maybe even recognition of the bear via DNA. | |
