Nico, Mateo and Shivani of Wageningen University are doing an experiment on Spitsbergen to study the effect of mercury on behaviour and the imune system. They are raising goslings in a former coal mine area and a clean control area and will compare the two groups. The control area has lower mercury than in the Netherlands. Every day, they are in the field and start with walking to a morning bath for the goslings. Today Maarten and Orca from the Chinese station join the group in the mine area. | |
