collecting polar bear poop | 12 July 2026 |
| Yesterday, during dinner, a polar bear was walking on the coast of Solvatnet. Observed by everyone from the canteen during dinner, thee bear seemed to poop, before it was chased by some bangs. Daga works for the Norwegian Polar Institute and wants to collect the poop for DNA-based diet analysis. We go together in the rain. To our surprise we see only small faeces clumps. We sample it, but in hindsight we think these were only old reindeer droppings. | |
